Finishing

Checked
In one sentence
Finishing makes big misses rarer. On a clean strike, the power you use, not Finishing, sets how far the shot can stray.

Who does this affect?

Every shot, open play and set pieces, whoever controls the shooter
90
Build target
The accuracy score behind every shot gains 2.7 points per Finishing point from 60 to 89 and 1.1 from 90. Train to 84 first if you use stunning shots.

How it works

Every shot has a maximum error set by the power gauge and body shape. Finishing narrows how much of it is used on each shot. It also shrinks the maximum itself on awkward-body shots, on first-time and fast-ball shots, and under pressure.

What a point buys

40 → 59+0.5 accuracy score
60 → 89+2.7
90 → 120+1.1

Booster points: Boosters count, but past 99 the gain is small except on awkward shots.

Common questions

Does Finishing make shots faster?
Short answerNo
A shot's speed comes from Kicking Power and how much of the power gauge you use. Finishing does not add speed; it makes the speed and direction of each shot more consistent and speeds up the shooting motion.
Is there a power-vs-accuracy trade-off with Kicking Power?
Short answerMostly no
Kicking Power does not change how far a shot strays in direction or height. Using more of the power gauge is what costs accuracy. The one link is a small speed effect near the top-speed cap, where a very hard kick can come out a little slower than planned.

The maths

StepStunning-shot wind-up drops from 9 to 8 ticks (0.33 → 0.30 s) at Finishing 84, and from 7 to 6 at 79 with Snap Strike. No further steps.
DetailEvery kick motion plays a little faster with its own accuracy stat: ×0.95 at 40, ×1.10 at 99.
DetailFree-kick shots use Finishing for accuracy. Penalties use it twice: for the kick error and as 40 % of the aim error (60 % comes from Set Piece Taking).
DetailWeak foot: the stat counts 3–25 points lower (see Weak Foot Accuracy). Some skills add 5–7 points for their kind of kick.
