Long-range Shooting
MixedChecked
In one sentence
Instep shots taken from outside the penalty box are aimed as if Finishing were 5 higher. The skill adds no shot power in normal play.
Who does this affect?
Both: the +5 and the animation swap apply to the player you control and to CPU players; the extra willingness to shoot from distance is CPU only.
How it works
The +5 applies when the shooter stands further from the goal line than the penalty-box line (about 16.4 m, measured straight up the pitch, so sideways position does not matter) and strikes the ball with the ordinary instep shooting kick, which normal and Stunning shots use. Curled, side-foot, volleyed, chipped and headed shots do not get it. Separately, one shot animation is swapped for another when the ball is coming at him fast, and CPU players with the skill shoot from distance more readily.
When it applies
- +5: a shot with the ordinary instep kick, the shooter more than 16.4 m from the goal line (beyond the box line), anywhere across the width of the pitch.
- Animation swap: on one shooting animation, when the ball is moving faster than 30 km/h relative to him, a different animation is used.
- Two rare speed extras: +2–3 km/h on shots the game has already marked for special speed rules, and +3 km/h on one special shot animation.
Without it
Long shots use plain Finishing, the other animation is used on fast balls, and the two rare speed extras are 2–3 km/h lower.
Which stats it reads
Finishing raised by the skill
Long instep shots aim as if Finishing were 5 higher. Biggest effect from 60 to 85, about half from 90 up; not wasted at 99 because the +5 is added inside the shot after the 99 cap.

Common questions
Does Long-range Shooting add shot power?
Short answerNo
Normal long shots are not faster; only two rare special cases get +2–3 km/h.
From what distance does it work — is there an 18 m zone?
Short answerPartly
From beyond the penalty-box line, 16.4 m from the goal line measured straight out; it is not 18 m and not a circle around the goal.
Does it work on curled shots?
Short answerNo
Controlled curl shots use a different kick; they can get Long-range Curler's +5 instead.
Is the +5 wasted at Finishing 99?
Short answerNo
It is added inside the shot calculation, so it still helps at 99, just less.
Not yet confirmed
- When the two special speed rules are switched on looks rare and was not pinned down (one is a top-speed rule around 118–122 km/h, the other a match-wide setting that also gives every kick +5).
- Which animations are swapped on fast balls has not been identified.
- The distance is read as the shooter's own position at the moment of the kick.
The maths
ConditionDistance is his position straight up the pitch: beyond the box line counts even out on the wing; inside the box depth never counts, however wide.
ConditionOnly the ordinary instep kick (normal and Stunning shots, including Dipping Shot's kick). Controlled curl shots, side-foot and turned shots, volleys, chips, heel kicks and headers are excluded.
DetailOne +5 per shot: it does not stack with Knuckle Shot, Rising Shot, Dipping Shot, Chip Shot Control, Long-range Curler or Acrobatic Finishing; Phenomenal Finishing's +7 replaces it.
DetailWith a weak Weak Foot Accuracy (levels 1–3) the weak-foot penalty on instep shots is bigger than the +5.
DetailNot used by this skill: Kicking Power — the skill does not make long shots faster in normal play.; Weak Foot Accuracy — the weak-foot penalty (up to 25 points on instep shots at level 1) is taken after the +5, unchanged.
