Dribbling

Checked
In one sentence
Dribbling sets top speed with the ball, together with Speed, and makes feints quicker.

Who does this affect?

The ball carrier, whether you or the CPU controls him
90
Build target
From 60 to 89 each point adds about 0.1 km/h of speed with the ball. From 90 about 0.03.

How it works

With the ball, top speed depends on the square root of Speed score × Dribbling score, so both stats weigh the same and the lower one holds you back: 90 Speed / 70 Dribbling (28.4 km/h) is slower on the ball than 80/80 (28.7 km/h). Holding sprint raises the cap by about 1 km/h.

What a point buys

40 → 59+0.036 km/h
60 → 89+0.101 km/h
90 → 120+0.028 km/h

Booster points: Boosters count but add little: +0.6 km/h from 99 to 120.

Common questions

Does Dribbling decide how far the ball goes ahead on each touch?
Short answerNo
Touch placement does not read Dribbling; only speed does it indirectly.
Is a feint skill just +20 Dribbling?
Short answerMore than that
It is a 40-point swing for that move: +20 with the skill, −20 without it.
Are short players more agile?
Short answerA little
Players of 165 cm or less get up to about 5 % faster feints and quicker touch animations, fading to nothing at 195 cm. Top speed and acceleration do not depend on height.

The maths

DetailFeints play faster with higher Dribbling: ×0.99 speed at 40 to ×1.09 at 99 (boosters count). For moves that belong to a feint skill (Scissors, Double Touch, Flip Flap, Marseille Turn, Scotch Move, Sole Control, Cut Behind & Turn, Sombrero, Chop Turn, Rabona), Dribbling counts 20 higher with that skill and 20 lower without it, about 10 % feint speed either way. The basic Marseille turn and double touch everyone has play at Dribbling − 20 without the skill.
ConditionAgainst a standing tackle from behind, the carrier only gets his evasive move if Dribbling + Balance is at least 150.
DetailDribbling removes a short extra pause before the dribbler can change his plan: 0.05 s at 40, none at 99.
LimitTired: once the ball holder's sprint reserve is at 80 % or less, feints use Dribbling 25 lower (50 when empty).
