Tackling
Checked
In one sentence
Tackling widens the tackle angle, lengthens and speeds up slides, and makes tackle contact more accurate.
Who does this affect?
Every player, whether you or the CPU controls him, including your own tackles
85
Build target
Slide speed steps up at 85, and the tackle timing step at 85 is the last one. Slide reach grows faster near the top, and 100 gives another speed step.
How it works
Slide reach grows faster the higher the stat: about 2.0 at 40, 2.9 at 80 and 4.0 at 99 (probably metres). Slide speed comes in steps at 60, 70, 85 and 100. At full sprint the slide loses its 2 m base.
Step
| 60 / 70 | slide ×0.97 / ×1.00 |
| 65 / 85 | tackle timing 11 → 10 → 9 ticks |
| 85 | slide ×1.05 |
| 100 | slide ×1.10 |
Booster points: Worth boosting: 100 is a slide-speed step, and reach, angle and accuracy keep growing to 120.

Common questions
Does Tackling beat a strong dribbler's stats?
Short answerNo duel
No tackle code compares Tackling with the dribbler's stats. Tackling sets reach, angle and accuracy; Physical Contact and Balance act in separate contact code.
The maths
DetailStanding tackle angle window: 0° at 40, 11.25° at 99, 15° at 120.
DetailStanding tackle reach also grows faster near the top (it follows the square of the 40–99 range) and keeps growing to 120. It shrinks when the tackler runs fast: from 22 km/h it fades to a fifth at 30 km/h.
DetailRandom contact error shrinks in a straight line to zero at 120.
DetailWhen a defender touches a ball an opponent played (an interception), the touch uses Tackling instead of Ball Control.
DetailSliding Tackle counts as +5 for slides. After a change of possession a standing tackle is allowed up to 0.1 s sooner at 99.
