Phenomenal Pass

MixedChecked
In one sentence
Passes played from awkward body positions get +6 to the passing stat, lose much less pace, and an awkward lofted through ball of 12 to 30 m gets its own kicking motion.

Who does this affect?

Both: all effects are in the kick code used for your passes and the CPU's.

How it works

Everything depends on the game judging the pass as played from an awkward position (off-balance or twisted body, stretching, flick-type contacts). For such passes the accuracy stat gets +6 (after booster points, no cap), the pace lost to the awkward contact is cut to 45 to 70 % of the normal loss, the pace control of an awkward first-time contact stays at 80 % instead of dropping to 30 %, and one kind of miskick is 60 % rarer. A lofted through ball of 12 to 30 m from such a position can use a kicking motion only this skill gives.

When it applies

Without it

The same awkward pass uses his plain stat, loses more pace, loses most of its pace control on awkward first-time contacts, and uses the ordinary awkward-pass motions.

Which stats it reads

Low Pass / Lofted Pass sets how strong
+6 inside awkward passes only, after booster points, no cap. Worth most for a 60 to 85 passer; it still counts at 99 but is small there.
Weak Foot Accuracy decides if it happens
The exclusive lofted-through-ball motion needs the stronger foot or weak-foot level 4.

In numbers

Average miss of an awkward passAverage degrees off target for a 70 km/h ground pass, stronger foot, no pressure, counting only the +6 (the other awkward-contact effects are left out). Booster points count (above 99). Blue: with Phenomenal Pass. Orange: without.

Common questions

Does Phenomenal Pass add Kicking Power?
Short answerNo
No. 'Power' means the pass loses less pace from an awkward contact; Kicking Power is not read for this.
Does it help normal, balanced passes?
Short answerNo
No. Every part is gated by the awkward-position check.
Does it stack with Through Passing on an awkward through ball?
Short answerNo
No. The game uses +6 instead of +5.
Is it wasted at 99 Low Pass?
Short answerPartly
Not cut off, but above 90 the accuracy gain is small; the pace and miskick effects do not depend on any stat.

Not yet confirmed

  • Which match situations count as an awkward position in practice (the game uses internal posture classes).
  • How many km/h the smaller pace loss is worth; it depends on each motion's pace.

The maths

ConditionOnly passes from awkward body positions; normal passes are unchanged.
DetailThe +6 replaces any +5 skill (Through Passing, Pinpoint Crossing); it never adds to them, and it is the same size as a Visionary Pass bonus.
DetailPace lost to the awkward contact: 45 to 70 % of the normal loss, depending on the kind of contact.
DetailAwkward lofted through balls of 12 to 30 m get an exclusive motion.
LimitNo cap: the +6 works at 99 and with booster points, but above 90 each point is worth much less accuracy.
DetailNot used by this skill: Kicking Power — the 'power' in the description means less pace lost, not Kicking Power
