In one sentence
Not yet released. A keeper skill: on crosses and other high balls the keeper comes for the ball more readily and gives way less to his own defenders.
Who does this affect?
Both, as far as found: the decision to come for a high ball is made by the game for every keeper, yours included.
How it works
Not yet released. Described from the code of this game version (11.1.1); it may change before release. On a cross or a lofted ball, a normal keeper only thinks about coming for it if it will reach the claiming point within 3.3 s. With Nile this time limit is dropped: he searches the ball's flight for a point where he can get within 2.5 m of it in time. He also gives way less to his own defenders and commits when he can beat an attacker to the header. Ground balls and one-on-ones are unchanged, he still never leaves his penalty area to claim, and no stat is raised.
When it applies
- The ball is in the air: it will rise above his reach soon, or above shoulder height where the first outfield player meets it.
- A normal keeper only considers high balls that reach him within 3.3 s; with Nile this limit is dropped for high balls.
- He looks along the ball's flight for the first point he can reach in time, aiming to be within 2.5 m of the ball.
- Once he is already coming out, his timing margin is a fixed 0.1 s instead of growing with the length of his run.
- Against his own defenders: a normal keeper needs to be about 0.5-0.6 s earlier than a defender to go; with Nile a defender standing close to the point is timed by when he could head it, so the keeper gives way less often.
- Against attackers: he also commits when an attacker would get there first but the keeper can reach the ball before it drops to heading height.
- Before a deep cross from the wing he sets himself more towards the middle of the goal and turns more towards the centre of the box.
- Every keeper, with or without Nile, only claims inside his own penalty area.
Without it
The keeper only comes for high balls that arrive within 3.3 s, must reach the ball's own position, and gives way to his defenders more often.
Which stats it reads
GK Awareness sets how strong
Same for every keeper, Nile does not change it: the delay before he reacts to come out is 0.50 s at 40, 0.24 s at 99 and 0.145 s at 120.
Height sets how strong
Same for every keeper: his reach in the air grows with his height (about 2.6 m with the arms for a 180 cm keeper).
Common questions
Does Nile give the keeper more Speed or Acceleration when coming out?
Short answerNo
No stat is raised; only his decisions change.
Does it make the keeper rush out on through balls and one-on-ones?
Short answerNo
The ground-ball decision never reads the skill; only crosses and high balls.
