Full-back Finisher
DefenceStill being reviewed
In one sentence
A full-back the computer sends on inside runs: when the ball is with a team-mate on his flank, his run can be aimed 8 m inside the ball instead of down the line. He also gets the Attacking Full-back push up the pitch.
Who does this affect?
Only while the computer moves him (a computer-run team-mate or an opponent). While you control him, your own inputs decide where he goes. Found on: Compatible positions in the code: LB, RB. On cards: RB 109, LB 97 (206 in the mobile card data).
How it works
The style is read in four places, all in the computer's attacking-movement code. In the run planner, when a team-mate on his flank has the ball and is not more than 6 m inside him, the computer can switch his run target to a point 8 m infield of the ball (an inside run); other full-backs get this only when the team has given them one particular job. In the attacking shape he gets the same extra push up the pitch as an Attacking Full-back. A fourth check sets an option for the path of his run that was not traced.
When it applies
- Only when deployed at LB or RB. At CB, LMF/RMF or anywhere else the style is off.
- Inside run: a team-mate on his side of the pitch has the ball and is level with him or wider (not more than 6 m inside him); the check runs only in a short window of 0.15 s after a team timer the code tracks (which event starts it was not identified).
- Forward push: in the attacking shape, phased in 3 to 5 s after a team timer starts.
Without it
A full-back without the style gets the inside-run target only when the team has given him one particular job (not identified), and no extra forward push in the attacking shape.
Common questions
Does a Full-back Finisher make inside runs?
Short answerYes
His run target can be set 8 m inside the ball when the carrier is on his flank; other full-backs need a particular team job for that.
Does he push up like an Attacking Full-back?
Short answerYes
He gets the same up-to-10 m forward extra in the attacking shape.
Does the style improve his finishing?
Short answerNo
No shooting or stat code reads the style.
The maths
ConditionOnly at LB or RB (attacking table: full-back positions only).
StepInside run: his run target is set 8 m infield of the ball's sideways position.
ConditionInside run needs the ball carrier on his side and not more than 6 m inside him.
StepForward push in the attacking shape: the same extra as Attacking Full-back, up to 10 m. It is scaled by a 0–1 team-shape factor (not identified) and builds up between 3 and 5 s after a team timer starts.
StepWide-run check: for one forward run the computer rejects the run when a team-mate ahead on his flank is close to the touchline. For him 'close' means within 10 m of the line, for other players 8 m, so he drops out of that run a little more often.
DetailA fourth check switches off one option for the path of his run when he does not have the style; what that option changes was not traced.
DetailNot used by this style: No stat is read by the style's checks, and no stat is raised.; Stamina: the style is not read by the stamina or tiredness code.
