In one sentence
When a teammate is near the box and an opponent is close to him, the CPU switches off six of its decisions for him.
Who does this affect?
Only players the CPU is moving: your AI teammates and the opponent's players. The style changes where the CPU puts him and what the CPU decides for him; while you steer him yourself, your input decides. Found on: Compatible: CF, SS, AMF. In the mobile card data: 310 cards (CF 273, SS 28, AMF 9).
How it works
Dummy Runner only changes CPU decisions. The game checks two things together: a teammate is no more than 10 m short of the penalty-box line and inside the box's width, and an opponent is close to him (within 2 m, or within 10 m and nearer the goal than he is) or any opponent stands inside the box within the width of the six-yard box. When both are true, six CPU decisions are not taken for him, so the teammate is left to act. In one support-position rule he also stays no more than 5 m behind a reference teammate who is within 15 m. Limit: these CPU decisions give players numbered roles that have no names in the code. Turning each role into a named move (for example a run in behind) needs the whole CPU role system mapped, which this audit could not complete, and live measurement was not possible (no device connection). They are therefore described only by what the code checks.
When it applies
- Teammate condition: any teammate at most 10 m short of the penalty-box line (about 26 m or less from the goal line) and within 20.12 m of the middle of the pitch (the box's width).
- Opponent condition: an opponent within 2 m of him, or within 10 m and closer to goal than him, or any opponent inside the box within 9.16 m of the middle (the six-yard box's width). A few opponents are skipped by a filter the code applies first; what it filters could not be identified.
- Both true: six CPU decisions are skipped for him.
- Support rule: if the reference teammate of the CPU's support plan is within 15 m, his support spot is kept no more than 5 m behind that teammate. Who that reference teammate is could not be confirmed.
- Only in a CF, SS or AMF slot.
Without it
A forward without the style can take those six CPU decisions in the same situation, and has no 5 m rule for his support spot.
Common questions
Does the style raise any of his stats?
Short answerNo
No stat is changed by the style. It only changes which CPU decisions he takes.
Does Dummy Runner stop him from shooting?
Short answerNo
No shooting code reads the style. Only the six CPU decisions described above are switched off.
Does the style make defenders follow him?
Short answerNo
No defender code reads the Dummy Runner style. Any pull on defenders comes only from where he moves.
Does the style help when I control the player myself?
Short answerNo
Every place in the code that reads this style is CPU positioning or a CPU decision. Your own dribbles, passes, shots and runs never look at it.
Does the style still work if I play him out of position?
Short answerPartly
No for the positioning parts: they check his formation slot every time and do nothing outside CF, SS or AMF slots. Three checks inside one CPU on-the-ball decision ignore the slot; what that decision does could not be established (see the limit above).
The maths
ConditionWorks only while he is deployed in a CF, SS or AMF slot. The game checks the slot every time against a fixed list; in any other slot these parts do nothing.
ConditionTeammate within 10 m of the box line and inside its width AND an opponent close to him (or in the central box) -> six CPU decisions are switched off for him.
LimitSupport spot at most 5 m behind a reference teammate who is within 15 m.

DetailNot used by this style: None of the checks described here reads a player stat.
