Attacking Full-back

DefenceStill being reviewed
In one sentence
A full-back the computer sends forward earlier and further: his runs may start while play is still deeper, his attacking-shape spot is pushed up to 10 m further forward, and his support limits are 2–3 m higher. No stat effect.

Who does this affect?

Only while the computer controls him (computer-run team-mate or opponent). Found on: Compatible positions in the code: LB, RB. On cards: RB 1,207, LB 1,156 (2,365 in the mobile card data).

How it works

The computer's run planner for wide players uses a team attacking level the code keeps (0 to 4; it is raised and lowered during the match). At level 0 nobody makes this run; at level 1 only when the team-mate the run is planned around is at least 26 m into the opponents' half. At levels 2 and 3, when the team-mate is more than 15 m behind a team line, an Attacking Full-back may still run while that team-mate is up to 10 m (level 2) or 15 m (level 3) inside his own half, where other full-backs need him in the opponents' half (level 2) or no more than 5 m inside his own half (level 3). In the in-possession team shape his spot gets an extra push of up to 10 m (phased in 3–5 s after a team timer), the front of his support area is 3 m higher, and in one support rule he aims up to 10 m ahead instead of 8 m.

When it applies

Without it

A full-back without the style needs the reference team-mate further forward before running, gets no extra shape push, and uses the normal support limits.

Common questions

Does Attacking Full-back make him faster or fitter?
Short answerNo
No stat or stamina code reads the style.
Does he overlap more?
Short answerYes
He may start runs while play is deeper and his in-possession spot is pushed further up.

The maths

ConditionOnly at LB or RB.
BendRun planner, team attacking level 2: reference team-mate may be up to 10 m inside his own half (others: must be in the opponents' half).
BendRun planner, level 3: up to 15 m inside his own half (others 5 m).
StepIn-possession shape: extra push up to 10 m, scaled by a 0–1 team-shape factor (grows with a team value up to 30 % of the pitch length) and phased in 3–5 s after a team timer starts.
StepFront of his support area +3 m.
StepOne support rule: aims up to 10 m ahead (7 m × ramp + 3 m) instead of 8 m (5 m × ramp + 3 m).
DetailHe also gets the full weight (1.0 instead of 0.5) in one of the computer's attacking choices, together with several forward styles; and one more option rule reads the style. These two were not traced to what they look like on the pitch.
DetailNot used by this style: Speed, Stamina and Offensive Awareness are not read by the style's checks.; No stat is raised by the style.
